Hubi born on 09.12.1984 in Recklinghausen (Germany) and Felix on 13.07.1986 in Herten (Germany). They both live in Marl (Germany).

Three questions was asked during the interview of Hubi Rohkemper and Felix Steenblock, the fun duet a.k.a ‘Audiophilet’ to know more about them…

Question: Hubi and Felix, tell us how you came to the taste of electronic music...

Answer: « We started to enjoy electronic music in 1998, Hubi at the age of 14 and me at 12 », Felix says.

« Trance was our only desire in the beginning. This musical style was booming in the late '90s and early 2000s. It must be said that, culturally, Germany was a pioneer in this style with the famous Paul Van Dyk, among others.

We enjoyed lots of parties and festivals, such as ‘Nature One’ in Southern Germany, among others, and our taste in music has evolved with the years. That does not mean that we no longer love Trance music today but over the years we got more interested in music styles like Techno and Minimal as well as Progressive. Q: What are your favourites music styles and do you have mentors who influence your sets?

A: « As already mentioned, our actual favourites music styles are Techno, Minimal and Progressive. We cannot say that we have a special favourite artist or producer but we like to discover new things, new tracks from various horizons.

The most we prefer those who are creative and unique in producing and mixing music. Something new is always good… We don’t like these styles, which are always the same, again and again. Still we like to enjoy trance music especially for relaxing and chilling! »

Q: How did you started to mix and what is your vision of the mix?

A: « We both started to mix twelve years ago with a computer helped with the software called ‘TRAKTOR DJ’. We always had a lot of fun and so we decided to buy turntables.

In 2007 we finally made it and we started to mix with vinyl, which is more artistic to us, more creative.

In our opinion vinyl is the best choice for every DJ to start mixing. You just get the right control and feeling about what you mix. Today we mainly mix with cd-decks because it’s easier to handle in every situation and you have a larger variety of music tracks. But it still brings more fun to mix with vinyl !

When we mix we always try to let the different music styles of Techno Minimal and Progressive melt to one unique style.»
